Sea Forest Waterway - Tokyo
We are now rowing at the Paralympic regatta venue - the Sea Forest Waterway, just a stones throw from the Village! It is very surreal to be here finally after such a long wait. I was really nervous to get down there and start training to be honest, we had heard so much about the challenging conditions and we were only permitted 5 days on the course prior to our competition starting.
I shouldn’t have been nervous - whilst the weather did throw a few things at us, we managed it really well and once we got on the water, we were in our comfort zone. It sounds odd, but everything around the work on the water is different - village life (see my next post!), the off water facilities, the weather, the food etc… but actually, the rowing is just rowing!
We have been training well, adjusting the weather and honing our cooling strategies ready for the weekend. Feeling nervous but excited for what is to come and trying to soak up everything that is happening around me whilst also focusing on the job in hand.
